My Scottish boss in the marketing section always implied this to me:

“Talk less. Don’t repeat. If you have to keep repeating what you are saying to other people, that means your message is weak.  Before you speak to people, make sure what you are going to say makes sense and is compelling enough to them. And never assume that you are making sense to them even when you are confident you are making sense.”

This piece of advice has been always tough one for me to follow.
